Yorkshire Wolds Railway
The Yorkshire Wolds Railway is a must for any heritage railway enthusiast. This is a very new railway formed in October 2008, exactly fifty years after the closing of the Malton to Driffield line. On the site at the moment a demonstration line where you can ride in the diesel locomotive "Sir Tatton Sykes", originally built foe the High Shotton Steel Works in the late 1970s. There is also a visitors centre set in a Mk.1 carriage. Plans for the future include extending the line to Wetting Green Lane, shouldn't be too long now.
This line is probably one of the best lines to get involved with, they are always looking for any help you can manage and are a great group of people who always go out of their way to make everyone welcome. 2017 2019 |
